Lingo

Get to know the lingo of the shareholder activism world!

Shareholder Resolution -- Shareholder Proposal.

Filer -- A person or entity who submits a resolution to a company.

Proxy -- Someone who votes on shareholder resolutions in place of another person.

Designate -- Someone who has owned a lot of stock for a long time can designate someone as their proxy.

Record Date -- Shareholders who have purchased stock prior to the record date can vote on shareholder proposals for that year.

AGM -- Annual General Meeting, this is the meeting each public company has once a year where proposals are voted on.
